Time to ease those aches and pains - don't worry Epsom's got your back!
Epsom salt: a naturally occurring mineral compound composed of magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen.
So why is this mineral such an important addition to those nightly soaks? Well once this compound hits the water it begins to dissolve and breakdown into magnesium and sulfate. Now, magnesium is pretty important because it not plays a role in more than 300 enzyme reactions within our body but also aids in reduction of inflammation (helping those muscles & nerve system) as well as immune system support.
Now sulfates add in their own benefits when it comes to helping flush toxins out of the body. With the combination of these two being soaked up by the largest organ of of your body (ie. skin, this simple add to your bath can produce benefits such as:
Relieve pain and tenderness of sore muscles from decreasing surrounding inflammation.
Relieve swelling, ease sprains and bruises.
Reduce itchiness and pain from different foot issues (athlete or ingrown toenails)
Help stabilize hormones and increase serotonin levels from magnesium.
How to create the relaxing bath?
It's pretty simple;
Just mix 2 cups of Epsom salt to your bath as it fills with warm water.
Add a splash of aromatherapy with a few drops of your favorite essential oil - wild orange & peppermint are a few of my favorites!
Grab a cool glass of water (hydration is key) - good book, movie, or tunes.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the next 15 - 20 minutes of you time - longer is fine!
