A few of my absolute favorite stretches to release tension in those hips and obliques!
It's more then necessary to give these areas time and attention. Tight hips and obliques can be the cause of many different muscular compensation and improper gait function. It can also be a main cause of that continues lower back ache or hip pain!
Stretching the muscles and relieving the surrounding fascia will help alleviate unnecessary pull of the hip joint that can cause non alignment within the pelvis and spine!
Stretches: 1 set | 30 sec. - 1 min.
- Modified Straddles w/ Reach (to increase the stretch, assume a full straddle position)
- Wide Bow Pose (you can also cross outer leg behind the other to increase the stretch in a different way)
